ARIEN showcases its research at the Security Research Event 2025 in Warsaw
ARIEN participated in the Security Research Event (SRE) 2025, held in Warsaw on 24–25 June under the theme “Boosting security through EU-based innovation”. The project hosted an exhibition booth presenting its mission, ongoing work and achievements in addressing illicit drug production and trafficking.
The event gathered more than 600 participants from academia, operational organisations, policymaking and civil society. Its exhibition featured over 50 EU-funded projects, providing a setting for sharing research outcomes and connecting technological development with security needs.
At the ARIEN booth, visitors could learn about the project’s approach to supporting investigations through AI-based tools and the analysis of information from online and physical environments. The exhibition offered an opportunity to introduce this work to organisations attending the event, including representatives of the European Commission, the Research Executive Agency and Justice and Home Affairs agencies.
The conference programme examined border management, crisis preparedness, critical infrastructure resilience and research supporting the fight against crime and terrorism. An Implementation Dialogue with Commissioner Magnus Brunner also addressed barriers to innovation uptake and European security competitiveness.
These discussions provided a broader context for ARIEN’s contribution: how research can respond to operational requirements and what is needed to bring promising developments closer to practical use. Participation extended the project’s visibility and created opportunities for exchanges with practitioners, institutions and complementary research initiatives.
