VANGUARD (adVANced technoloGical solutions coupled with societal-oriented Understanding and AwaReness for Disrupting trafficking in human beings) aims to strengthen the fight against THB through the provision of improved intelligence picture, delivery of advanced trustworthy suite of tools, realisation of innovative training activities, and awareness raising. The main objectives are to: (i) Provide an improved and comprehensive intelligence picture of (cross-border) THB-related criminal activities and the trafficking chain, through a thorough scanning of the online/ offline criminal landscape as well as rigorous empirical research with various relevant actors; (ii) Develop improved and trustworthy AI-based tools to detect, identify, investigate, prevent, and disrupt THB; (iii) Provide enhanced decision support and investigation methodologies/processes; (iv) Enable continuous evaluation and improvement of overall capacity building of security practitioners; and (v) Promote cooperation, raise awareness, and inform regulation shaping.

The PARSEC project delivers innovative solutions to counter the abuse of postal and express courier services for criminal and terrorist purposes. It develops, customises, and pilots advanced tools, services, and security management systems that strengthen risk analysis, threat detection, and resilience among parcel service providers, customs, police, and other relevant stakeholders.
PARSEC focuses on identifying optimal control setups that combine speed, reliability, and minimal disruption, tailored to various threats such as drugs and explosives. Its approach integrates cutting-edge detection technologies and operational procedures within the fast-paced environment of postal and express logistics.
By promoting full integration of control operations and enabling efficient data exchange between postal operators, customs, and law enforcement, PARSEC enhances collaboration and situational awareness. The project builds a seamless, multi-actor ecosystem that ensures safer, more resilient, and uninterrupted parcel delivery services across Europe.

The European Security Data Space for Innovation (EU SDSI) is recognised as the cornerstone for implementing the European Data Strategy in the security domain, aiming at Europe’s data sovereignty, while having as ultimate goal to increase trust in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by Law Enforcement. In this context, TESSERA aims to conduct the preparatory work towards high-quality large-scale trusted and shareable datasets based on identified operational use cases and associated AI technologies, thus supporting the vision for the EU SDSI. TESSERA places particular focus on analysing and defining the requirements ensuring the interoperability and shareability of heterogeneous datasets, whilst considering their compliance to privacy preservation and fundamental human rights protection. TESSERA also aims to specify the low-level architecture of the data-related national components of the EU SDSI, including requirements related to user management, data access, and exchange, whilst also considering their interconnectivity and deployment in the EU SDSI. To this end, TESSERA builds upon and complements past and ongoing initiatives and EU-funded projects with relevant outcomes, while also fostering the engagement with and involvement of relevant stakeholders.

PERIVALLON aims to strengthen the fight against organised environmental crime by developing innovative tools for prevention, detection, investigation, and environmental impact assessment. The project supports enhanced investigative methods, targeted training for authorities, improved international cooperation, and contributes to policy shaping through tailored recommendations.

The ARMADILLO project addresses the growing threat of GHB use in drug-facilitated crimes by developing portable, fast, and highly accurate detection tools. Combining optical spectroscopy, electrochemical sensing, and AI-based forensic intelligence, it enables law enforcement and forensic teams to detect GHB effectively and provide court-admissible evidence, enhancing investigations and public safety across Europe.
