Illicit Drug Trafficking in Europe: ARIEN Project at EUROCRIM 2025

Illicit drug trafficking in Europe continues to grow in scale and complexity, increasingly relying on digital platforms and the dark web. This evolving scenario not only involves organized crime groups but also individual offenders, making detection and prevention more challenging than ever.

The ARIEN Project addresses this pressing issue through a holistic approach that integrates advanced AI tools to:

• Support law enforcement agencies in monitoring traditional and online drug markets,

• Identify and analyze emerging criminal trends and threats,

• Provide actionable recommendations to counter illicit trafficking effectively.

The latest progress and results of ARIEN were presented by the project coordinator during the EUROCRIM 2025 conference.
